When my grandfather was on his death bed in 2005, he gave me a thick, blue folder. On the side of it he’d written “H. Mellum’s diverse exploits and mistakes”. In doing so he said: Finish my story.

Five years later I did, in the form of a storytelling performance. The Jack of Clubs is a merry, magical and mysterious journey through family history, childhood, dreams and imaginary worlds – a warm, humourous, sad and strange tale with multiple layers of the relationship between a grandfather and his grandson and the single playing card that unites them both.

The Jack of Clubs was a huge success during the Norwegian Storytelling Festival of 2011, and now it gets a new showing, on the 13th of October at the new and gorgeous Det Andre Teatret (The Other Theatre).
