Bifrǫst Festival

In the beginning of February I and my dear colleague Mikael Öberg hosted and organised the first Bifrǫst Festival, a rain bow shimmering festival for nordic mythology.

The shimmering bridge
Bifrǫst is the bridge connecting the worlds of gods and men in the Norse mythos. Directly translated it means the shimmering bridge. The term makes some people think it refers to the rainbow. Others believe the northern lights are a good candidate. In any case, our festival is intended as a bridge, a bridge between artists of diverse disciplines and backgrounds working with nordic myth as material, a bridge between academics specializing in Norse myth and the aforementioned artists, a bridge between the audience and lesser known aspects of the Norse mythic realms, a bridge between the Nordic countries and a bridge between the past and the future.

We are very grateful to Nordic Culture Contact for their financial support and to Teater Sláva for an fantastic collaboration. Now we are in the process of planning the next festival. Our plan is to arrange the next one in Norway with the theme UTGARD.
